A therapeutic relationship works best when you feel respected, understood and involved in the process.
YOUR THERAPIST
Maithili Patel
Counselling Psychologist | Certified Trauma Professional (Evergreen Certifications, USA)
I know reaching out for support can feel difficult, especially when you aren’t quite sure where to begin. My goal is to make that first step feels a little safer.
I believe therapy begins with feeling heard, understood, and respected — without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out.
An understanding shaped across India and the United States.
I began my training in psychology in Vadodara, completing my B.A. (Hons.) in Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology, followed by a postgraduate diploma in Clinical & Applied Hypnosis from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.
I later pursued graduate training in the United States, completing an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Long Island University, New York. I also completed graduate coursework in Applied Clinical Psychology at Pennsylvania State University.
During my clinical training and practice in New York, I worked as a Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) across outpatient, child and family, and psychological assessment settings, working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
Working across India and the United States has also shaped the way I understand therapy — particularly the influence of culture, family, relationships, and social context on how we experience and express emotional difficulties.
NOT A FORMULA. A PROCESS.
My Approach
My work is person-centered and trauma-informed. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as CBT, psychodynamic therapy, strength-based work, trauma-focused approaches, and mindfulness-based practices, tailoring the work rather than following a fixed model.
